new Serge VSC clone - CGS75

2009-06-15 by jesse.mejia@rocketmail.com

hxxp://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/cgs75_vcs.html

I've been looking - nay - wishing that something like this would turn up.. but it seems to good to be true.

"This page is being uploaded early to give access to ther BOM for those who wish to buy parts."

This implies there has been some discussion somewhere that maybe I'm missing - is there a way I can put an early order in? I lust for no module more than the venerable VCS. (at least currently. . .)

It was discussed on www.muffwiggler.com, where it was prepared for a project that is going on over there. The stock immediately sold out.

More will come later.

Great news - where's the best place to watch for announcements re: more pcbs? :)

Thanks for such an amazing service to us all!

More boards will probably be about a month away. I'm still preparing the order.

I ordered twice as many as I expected I would need. It was just that instead
of ordering two each, every one seemed to want four!
There is still a component value I need to check before I run them again,
and interuptions have prevented me from finishing up my test unit.

On the Euro version there is a capacitor that is 2n2, when in the original
designs it was 22n. My mistake. Increasing the corresponding resistor to
220k solved the issue without me ever realising the mistake - I thought it
was due to the higher gain of the transistors used.
This 6 x 2 board has the capacitor correctly marked at 22n BUT the resistor
is still 220k, where it should probably need to be 22k. It is the resistor
connected to the four emitters of the transistor core.

Keep this in mind when assemblin it. There is a spare 22k resistor in the
parts list for this reason.

I will definitely be buying 2-4 of the euro sized pcbs when they are out!
