CGS41 Diatonic Converter calibration

CGS41 Diatonic Converter calibration

2013-10-18 by Stephen Richards

Hi Ken and All

I am catching up on as much calbrating as possible across 5 built CGS/Serge Panels.

I have arrived at the Diatonic Converter.

I can't see anything in the Build page , does anyone have some tips on what to do with the Octave Buffer and Note Buffer trimmers ?

With all inputs low, the output should be 0V.
Set all three of the NOTE inputs to high, and adjust the Note adj. trimmer
until the output is 1V.
Set all inputs low, returning the the output to 0V.
Set the C of the OCT inputs to high, and A and B to low and adjust the Oct
adj. trimmer until the output is 4V.

Hi Ken

I got to look at the Diatonic Converter today ; it's connected to the Infinite Melody in the BoCGS MARSH panel , would you be able to let me know how to test it as built into the MARSH panel ?

I don't understand what setting inputs to high or low actually means to be honest , so i might need a more straightforward explanation if possible.

Re: CGS41 Diatonic Converter calibration

Pull the 4015 chips out of the infinite melody so they don't interfere. I
assume they are in sockets.
Taking to logic HIGH means connecting to +VE. Taking to logic LOW means
connecting to 0V.
Connect a 1k resistor to the +VE rail. Connect things that need to go HIGH
to that.
Connect a 1k resistor to the 0V rail. Connect things that need to go LOW to
that.

The resistors will save things from going pop if you short something out.
