CGS 48 VCO question.

CGS 48 VCO question.

2013-11-10 by hiko_goldenballs

Hi Ken and everybody.

I'm now working on CGS 48 VCO. I'm now just working it on a breadboard.

Having constructed everything, it seems working but the voltage of SQ and Saw out seems a bit too much.

These are the voltage of output simply I measured with a meter.

SQ Out : AC 4.30V, DC 1.60V
Saw DC Out : AC 3.18V, DC 11.0 V
Saw AC Out : AC 3.15V

As far as I listen to it and compare the volume to Doepfer Dark Energy, which I put it into the ex-audio, it seems OK but the thing is if I use ADSR env of Dark Energy the sound clips at the point of achieving the time of Attack and soon after the Decay starts.

Also the sync terminal doesn't seem to be working.

I haven't constructed the second parts of the VCO such as the sine out and the staircases.

To be honest, I had a smoke once from a bead of negative power supply as I had forgotten to connect 2 Vcc connections. From that reason I doubt that LM311 is not working correctly though.

I would appreciate any help and if I could know the correct voltages.

Kind Regards

Hiko

pul lthe COA #2 panel out of the boat, put the two panels side by side on the bench & compare the two SSG boards with a meter.
First test all the resistors with OHM meter, in the process , you will find the bug.
Excuse me if you already did that.

One can't measure the resistance of a resistor when it's soldered in, Dmitri. :-)

I'll try to measure all the registers as I'm still working on a solderless bread board.

Thanks Dmitri

If you are doing a comparison with another board, you can. You ignore the
value on the resistor, and compare it with the same resistor on the other board.

Hi.

Having checked all the resisters and there wasn't any problem, I'm sorry but what I realised was simply sounds of beat frequency as I was trying to do tuning!

Now all sounds seem fine.

Sorry but thank you for your concern.
