Small trim pots fitting CGS boards

Small trim pots fitting CGS boards

2016-01-24 by gord_harris

I am trying to find the perfect fit for Ken's boards. Any North American guys know a good Mouser Part number by chance? I have tried two styles but both required drilling out the boards a bit to fit. These are typically 25K or in range from 20 to 30K on the six boards I am in progress on now.

and here are the ones I have tried:

I am hoping to find something that will fit as they come without drilling. Any suggestions from Mouser, DigiKey, Newark etc? Or manufacturer part number?

Thanks all,

Gord

PS anyone know canadian source for LM3080's? I have ordered some from Small Bear but shipping is a bit pricey....

where the "B" gives the 'y' shape spacing in legs.. see the datasheet (A would give all 3 legs in a row, spaces .1" apart), and the -25K can be set to any value of resistance necessary.

Hey Gord,

Yes, the same Chris from IMAX days.

Kens trimpot footprints I am going to assume might be 6mm and 9-10mm. Can’t say I took a survey up until now.

I’d been looking at this lately, Mouser has Piher pots that look like they will fit. Something about these trimpots appealed to me. Neil Johnson had them on some of his pcbs from UK.

Here is a current link to that Mouser page: http://www.mouser.com/catalog/catalogusd/648/2441.pdf

The Voltage processor for example may require the 6mm form factor, while some of the CGS serge designs with multiple choice mounting holes might take the 10mm package. I was going to see if I could get a sample of both and get a larger batch if they fit. I have calipers but feel better to get seem on hand and squeeze into the holes.

SmallBear have 6mm and 9mm packages: http://smallbear-electronics.mybigcommerce.com/trimpots-1/ if those appeal.

The facebook links below won’t resolve as it stands, even when logged in.

Thanks Chris! Nice to see you on this board. My latest ones from Mouser are better so I guess I just have to be much more careful checking the mechanical drawings on leg size.
