New Chroma Polaris User Looking For The Factory Patches

2003-10-08 by kornelious23

Hey all,

First of all, I hope somebody is still out there. It looks like it's
been a while since the last post.

I just recently picked up a Chroma Polaris and I'm loving what it can
do. I just came across this group in my search across the web for
some info on the board. I saw a couple people having possible copies
of the original factory patches for the board. I would love to get a
copy of those patches if anyone has them. I'll pay or trade or
however you want to work it. I would also love the original tape if
anyone is interested in selling it. Thanks for your time. Kris.

Hey, I'm still here.
I bought a repro tape from e-bay a while back. I haven't had a chance
to try it yet, however. I did convert it to wav and mp3. I've been
meaning to upload it to the "Files" section of this board. I'll see if
I can put a push on that. Start bugging me if it takes more than a
week or so.

Hiya,

That's really cool!
Hopefully this will work for all of us. And make a Sounddiver library since
that also supports the Polaris nowadays. It even might be saved as sysex.
Which is a bit smaller than a mp3. ;)

Cheers

I haven't read the manual in a while, but is there a way to send the
patch information from the Polaris to the MIDI out port? Otherwise,
how is one to make sysex file (or CC commands)?

After going through the manual the only thing I came upon that would
do that is the Midi Panel Switch: Lower Function-Cassette-8. It will
send parameter and program changes to another Polaris or a computer.
I'm not sure if it will send like how a sysex dump would do because
I've never tried it. There's also the sending of a program: Lower
Function-Cassette-12, but once again not sure if that's what you're
after. I'm going to try these the next chance I get to see if it
winds up as sysex or something else. Sorry for the rather basic
response, I'm learning as we speak. Kris.

Hmmmm......
If I remember correctly, the Polaris sends ALL
information to the cassette and midi outputs at the
same time. This should send a sysex dump to a midi
storage device.
