Polaris problem

Polaris problem

2006-12-30 by Astraeus000@aol.com

Tonight after opening up my Polaris to check out the appearance of my
batteries, I noticed that after closing it back up suddenly, the "A" vertical row
of membranes is out. I opened it back up, poked that little cheap plasticky
ribbon connector, and now suddenly my "C" row of membranes is out, as well as
my "upper function" vertical row. Has anyone had this happen before, and if
so, is it because of cracking of one of those little plastic ribbon
connectors?? Anyone know where you can get a replacement/substitute for those two
connectors? (if indeed that's what it would be) My Polaris functioned perfectly
before that. Looks like I opened up a can of worms. :)
thanks,
-Richard

If you need it serviced, I have good success doing a retro mod to fix
the bad ribbon in these. If a person is very careful and
electromechanically savvy they can probably pull it off. But I'm in
Montana and fedex only costs 20 some bucks just to send it. I can
usually do the work and reship it so you are out a total of 100 bucks
or something close. If it's all turned to dust we might have to pull
it all out and hardwire stuff which is a little more. -Bob

Thanks much, I will definitely keep you in mind for the fix. It seems that
my upper functions are working now, but its just a matter of time before I
need to open it up or move it around and I imagine bad things will happen. It
looked like tiny white cracks in the plastic, right in the middle of the
connecter at the point that it bends/curves. Might I dare to try some silver
conductive ink on it? maybe not.... then Id have to open it again....

Yup sounds like the standard thing. It'll intermittenly work/not work
for quite a while sometimes. -Bob
