Re: [crumar] bit99 - high pitch sound on low oct

2010-11-16 by Michael Ashton

I think what you're referring to is characteristic of the Bit. If it9;s the same "whine" I'm thinking of, it is for me one of the Bit's most unique and endearing qualities. :)

As an aside, the Bit doesn't always sound very special by itself, but like many great instruments, if you get it into the right place in a mix, it's a secret weapon. I think the oscillators are the main reason. That whine -- which I think is possibly aliasing of some sort, never worked it out for certain -- gives basslines a certain edge and grit.

hi everyone!

recently i purchased a white bit 99 (+ white case) for cheap, that looks like brand new!
even the patch cards are still attached!

what i noticed first, was this high pitched, somewhat metalic sound, audible on lower octaves, if the filter is open. anyone else noticed this? is this a characteristic of the bit, or could it be a faulty chip or something like that? thanks!
