I've just installed a PhotoSmart 7760 so that I could take another look at the driver settings. The 7xxx series (at least this one) as only two choices under Color: ColorSmart III and Grayscale. As I recall the 8xxx series also has a third option, and for those printers, its this third option you want. For the 7xxx printers, you chooose ColorSmart III (the other option isn't going to get you color at all...) and then make sure that no other color management occurs. If there is a Manual selection under Color Management, scroll to the top of the list, and see if there is a "none" or similar setting.
