all profiles have too much yellow

2006-09-23 by bwinkjet

Hi all,

I need help.  I have profiled 2 different papers using PrintFIX PRO;
Lexjet Pro semimatt and Ilford Gallery Smooth Gloss using 225 patches
and 729 patches, all read three times (total of 12 readings). (has
taken several weeks) All profiles produce a nice print, except all
cause a yellow cast with a slight deficiency of red. My equipment:
Eizo monitor calibrated with Monaco Optix Pro, PC with XP pro, Epson
2200 (nozzle checks are good), Image print for comparison, Qimage
workflow, and direct printing from Photoshop. With soft proofing in
PS of a grey scale wedge I note a reduction of red and increased
yellow when using the profiles I created. (all) Using the same color
image printed with generic profiles there is no cast with Image
Print, Qimage, or direct from PS. However using the profiles I
created with PFP there is a persistant yellowing using any of the
profiles I have created. My workflow for color images is OK as the
generic profiles produce prints with good color balance. Also have
viewed prints in various lighting conditions, daylight to
incandescent and an Ott light. I can get a near neutral print using
PFP profiles by adding 10 to 15 units of Blue and 4 units of Red in
PS before printing. I wonder if the OBs in these 2 papers are
throwing the spectro off? I have spent a lot of time working on this
before posting in hopes I could solve the problem. But, now I need
help.

Thanks in advance,
Paul
