New here and did some searching on the archives only to see that there are hardly any
posts about the new PFP 2.0. I went out and got one because of the early reports that it
could produce Gallery quality BW output on a K3 printer. Except for the Help section, I
haven't seen any in-depth documentation on how to get the best results with this product.
Expect for the Help there is no documentation at all; the Help is the documentation. From the Help index you'll find links to two B&W tutorials that may be of assistance, as well as the step by step help at each stage of the process.
So maybe someone here would care to share their workflow because my results are not up
to standard.
I shared all of my workflows in the Help...
Maybe someone would care to share their workflow and comment on mine.
Here's what I did:
1) Through the program, printed the 700+ Color Target and the 200+ Extended Gray
Target
Not a good first choice. Why measure all those patches only to find you are doing something wrong? Do your practice profiling with 225 and 238, leave 729 for later, if at all.
2) Measured both targets carefully
3) Didn't make any slider adjustments in the program and had the program create a profile
Did you have both target's measurement sets selected in the correct popdowns when building?
4) Changed my grayscale file to Adobe RGB
Not necessary, but should be fine...
5) Let Photoshop Determine Colors
Correct...
6) Loaded new PFP 2.0 Profile
Chose as printing profile in Photoshop's print window, I assume...
7) Saturation intent- I tbought I read this somewhere.
Thats fine for most images...
7) Under the printer driver followed same settings as when I printed the targets. In my
case Premium Luster 250 / 1440.
That sounds correct...
The paper I used was the Innova F-Gloss
Since you are having odd results, perhaps you should start with another paper...
8) No Color Management
In driver, that would be correct...
9) Print
And the results: A green cast on the BW. When i hold up a fiber print next to the PFP
print, it definitely shows the cast. And also a lack of contrast.
Something wrong somewhere.
This new software intrigues me because I like the different options for accurate toning that
it can provide. Now i hope some of the experts can comment and send me on my way.
Send copies of your two XML measurement sets to , and Dave can take a look at what your current measurements look like. In the meantime try another media, at 225 patches, then 225 and 238, and see what that gets you. Always good to add variables one at a time.
