Hi Bill: As long as the spectro is being recognized by Windows, then the "Save Measurements To..." button on that screen will be enabled. (And once you select a file name to save into, then the Read Patches... button will be enabled). If, for some reason, Windows has decided to get finicky about the spectro driver, then whether the spectro is plugged in or not, it doesn't show up properly on USB, PFP can't see it, and so: things are grayed. Also: even if all is well with the USB driver, you need to have the spectro -already plugged in- to USB when you launch PFP. It doesn't periodically look for and attempt to connect to the spectro, once it's been launched, if it didn't find the spectro when it started up. So if you launch PFP with no spectro; then plug in the spectro after launch; PFP won't see it (unless you manually go into Preferences to select it, which is also a solution in this situation). So, here's what you need to do: a) Make sure Windows sees the spectro via the USB driver. Unplug and replug the spectro. Do you get the "unhappy" clunk sound? If you go into the Device Manager, does the spectro show up properly identified, or does it come up with the infamous yellow badge? If so: it's not going to work, and PFP won't be able to see it. Try shutting down your PC, unplug the spectro, restart the PC, plug the spectro in again. Happy sound, or unhappy sound? (And what does Windows tell you when it tries to identify the hardware?) b) If Windows id's the spectro correctly, it shows up properly in the Device Manager, then PFP will be able to see it, and you simply didn't have it plugged in when you launched PFP. See my other notes above and this will clear things up. **** If the scenario is "a", above, and the USB driver and Windows aren't communicating, then email me offlist at davem@... and I'll direct you to a couple of other downloads you can get and use that should fix things up for you.
