good results but need help tweaking

2006-03-08 by Ken Chow

I made a profile for Kirkland letter size glossy paper
(media setting:Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper)

Problem 1: shadows a bit dark
Problem 2: on the photodisc.com test image the grey ramp on the right
has a horizontal band of cyan about halfway down the page that
interrupts the transition; the band is about the thickness of the
apple in the photo

These problems are compared to using Epson's Premium Glossy Photo
Paper profile, which doesn't have the cyan band and has lighter shadows.

Printer & ink: Epson 4000, UC
225 patch test target used

My profile for Epson Luster Professional (250) also has darker shadows
and is a bit cyan compared to Epson's profile for this paper.

Questions/Help(!):
1. How do I tweak the profiles to lighten up the shadows? The
Brightness control seems a bit crude....?
2. Wazzup with the cyan band? I'll re-measure in the meantime and
report back if there's improvement...

Thanks!
Ken
