Is there something unusual about your drive configurations? As the help notes, the profiles are placed in the standard color folder for Win2000 and XP, and that should be all thats needed; certainly none of the hundreds of Windows-based users so far have commented on it not putting them in the right place!

With Photoshop, you do need to force the application to refresh its list of profiles, which can be done by quitting and restarting Photoshop, but I just go to ProofSetUp > Custom, which forces a refresh of the list, before printing.
