Spyder2express, Microsoft Color Control Applet and Dual Monitors

2008-02-13 by rowli001

I have a dual monitor setup on a lenovo T61P with an NVDIA 140M built
in graphics controller, connected with an advanced docking station to
2 HP LP2045W monitors. One monitor is on the DVI port, the other is a
conventional VGA.

I have installed the Color control applet from Microsoft, and
calibrated each monitor using Spyder2express, creating a separate
profile for each monitor (I did this by disabling the primary monitor
and then created a profile on the secondary monitor.

The color control applet handles the two profiles correctly, and I can
test this by changing each individually and seeing the change in color.

My problem is this:
The color on each monitor is distinctly different after calibration.
Apart from that, the 'eye' test suggests to me that the VGA connected
device is too red, and the DVI device too yellow. Neither matches the
print on an Epson R2400 using the R2400 profile. I'm not sure whether
my setup, is the cause here, or whether my Spyder2express is capable
of getting the job done - it seems to calibrate with different results
10 minutes apart on the same fully warmed up monitor.
