What settings did you use to profile the printer? I'm finding that ICM OFF yields a grayscale with some bad color crossovers. Color controls gamma 2.2 and Epson Standard seems to be more even if a bit bluish. I'm also finding that I get density reversals with ICM off. So even though this isn't standard practice I'm going to try to make profiles using Image Specialist ink in a R1800 on Premium Semigloss using Premium Luster paper type (better dmax), Color controls-2.2- epson standard, and best photo (better dmax and no density reversals). I'll let you know how it works out.
