I note that on most of the screens in the Spyder 3 Pro software, there are "Maximize" and "Close" buttons in the usual place, both always grayed out.

I can understand that Maximize should not be workable. But then why have the button (always grayed out). Is that a Windows "requirement" - that it always appear, even if never functional?

And why is the "Close" button always grayed out? The apparently-equivalent function seems to be almost always available (in the File menu, the "Quit" item, and the shortcut Ctrl+Q).

All these little curiosities can serve to confuse, or at least distract, the user.
