I just completed running a calibration on an EIZO CG222W monitor using the Color Navigator software and a Spyder3 colorimeter with the options set for 6500K, 2.2 gamma and brightness of 80 cd/m2. After adjustments the sofware indicated that all values were in range (6516K, 2.2 gamma and 79.9 cd/m2). I then used Spyder3 Elite to produce a profile for 6500K, 2.2 gamma with luminance mode set to manual. The "problem" is that the two profiles give a different appearance. To the eye, the profile built by the Spyder3 Elite package appears to be warmer with a slighly greenish cast to the grays and whites. Now, should I color balance the monitor using the EIZO Color Navigator and leave it at that or should I then profile using the Spyder3 Elite on top of that and use that profile. Of course there is always the question as to how I can get two profiles to what are basically the same settings that produce results that are markedly noticeable to the eye. Then, of course, I could be approaching the whole process on a monitor like this wrong. I see some web posts that indicate by profiling using Spyder3 Elite (with the options chosen) on top of the ColorNaigator is "double profiling" which can produce incorrect profiles. If I want to profile with just Spyder3 Elite then the question on this monitor of how do I adjust the brighness, color, etc. For reference, I am running WinXP, ColorNavigator 5.1.0.10 and Spyder3 Elite 3.0.7. Thanks, Rollin
