Re: [datacolor_group] A new type of Camera Color Comparison

2012-03-30 by Vampire D

I love the 5D III. 100-3200 ISO it is very similar IQ as the II but 6400 it really takes off. 12,800 is very usable. I have been shooting 6400 and lower with no post or camera noise reduction at all.

Color is a bit better than the II especially the red clipping issue. Banding issues are completely gone. The AF is awesome, servo works better than the 7D did.

Moire issues are virtually non-existing especially in video.

One of my favorite features is the new DOF button, it is in a great spot now and easy to use. I never used DOF preview before as it was so small but now I have it mapped to one-shot/servo and can instantly switch back and forth. Got some 6400 and 12,800 shots up from yesterday with my son. 12,800 has some nr the 6400 I didn't bother.

What's your overall impression of the 5DIII compared to the 5DII? From what I've read auto focus is deadly accurate but image quality is only touch better.

I've been waiting a little bit as I am not sure if Adobe is going to make adjustments on how the 5D III is processed. It seems to do a pretty good job especially now there is native LR support.

Further color changes seem unlikely at this point, particularly considering how similar it is to the 5D Mk ll at this point. So I figure its time to start using the calibration I generated for everything I shoot with the new body, now that I have a reasonable import path for the images.
