Thanks David, I lodged a support ticket and the problem seems to be resolved. I found you support people very helpful. The long and short of it is that I needed to:- - disable the resident Intel control panel services in windows startup. Although this on its own did not resolve the issue. - update the drivers for both the on-board Intel and nVidia graphics adapters. I also learned the status colors of the utility icon.... - black Spyder: everything is okay - orange Spyder: either the Spyder is not connected or you are currently running the Spyder3-Application - red Spyder: something happens with your calibration - if you have turned on the ambient light measurement and the ambient light changed or the recalibration time has been reached. I am posting this here for others to find if they have the same issue.
