Help with getting brightness to target level

2013-05-15 by golfwidow@frontiernet.net

I have a flatron w2061tq LG monitor. I'm using sypder 4 pro. I have been trying for months to get a good calibration. I set my monitor to factory settings and begin calibrating. It gets to the point where it asks me to adjust target brightness. After ambient light reading it suggests as a target 180c/m^2. It states mine is at 111 or 115. When I got to my OSD of my monitor the brightness level is already at 100%. According to my monitor specs my monitor can go to 300c/m^2. How am I supposed to get to the target setting if I can't go any higher than 100%. I have begged and begged someone at datacolor support to help me and they are always general with their answers and never answer my specific problem. So I never feel like my monitor is properly calibrated. I should specify that I usually work on photos during the day in a moderately bright room. On my older xp I had used spyder2express and got to the point where my prints matched monitor almost 100%. After getting new computer windows 7 64bit and spyder4pro (same monitor) I have been struggling. Please help!

Also what should my settings be when starting the calibration process in the software. I set the monitor type to led(rgb). White point at 6500 and brightness to native. I select brightness and contrast as what my monitor can adjust. I start process and run into brightness problem!!
