Re: Spyder3Elite systray icon problem

2013-05-25 by tlbepson

I received a reply from Datacolor support about the problem I was having with the (re)calibration dates not updating so that even though I'd done the Recal--I was still getting daily prompts to recalibrate and the systray icon was still red.

The recommendation was to download a little utility from Datacolor--S3PrefReset--using the link support provided, run the utility, start the Spyder3Elite software and do a full calibration which I did (yesterday--Friday) and the problem has been resolved. I did have to reenter my serial number after starting the Spyder3Elite software and it went through the activation process again.

After I ran the utility but before starting the Spyder3Elite software, I checked [myuserid]\appdata\local\datacolor and found that the standard Datacolor subdirs (Spyder3Elite and Spyder3Utility) were empty and 2 new subdirs had been created. After running the full calibration and rebooting my system (I always reboot after doing stuff like this), appdata\local\datacolor standard subdirs (Spyder3Elite and Spyder3Utility) now contained files and the dates in tlbpc_asus pa248-1_information.xml had also been updated properly. The other 2 subdirs I think are backups and I've asked if it's ok to delete them. I've not tested that on doing the next recalibration that the dates will be updated but I will be doing that in the near future and will report back if there is a problem.

In addition to fixing the problem I was having, the Spyder3Utility preferences have been enhanced--for example, you can now select to never be notified of the need to recalibrate in addition to the options for when you'd prefer to be prompted to recalibrate.

I can't find the utility in the downloads area on the Datacolor website so I hesitate to post the link to the utility here. I've checked Datacolor downloads to see if the Spyder3Elite software (Windows) had been updated and it still lists version 4.0.2 as current--that's the version I have installed.

If it's ok to post the link to the utility here, let me know and I'll post it.
