Yes, the Pictro is enough to drive anyone to custom profiling. You'll find it makes your color images much, much more acceptable. More accurate colors, maybe even more shadow detail. However, all that stuff I've been saying about good black and white prints with color ink on the Epson K3 printers? Don't expect that degree of control and neutrality from a Pictro... far more neutral... neutral enough that you can show them to someone with a straight face... but not neutral enough that you'd be satisfied with them as serious monochrome prints. If you add enough tint to them (heavy sepia, for instance, or Oriental Seagull blue) then you can probably get away with it.
