I'm talking about the original printfix that comes w/ the funky
little black scanner. It simply didn't make very good profiles. It
was a cheap item, but I expected more. In fact, after trying it a
number of times (and even making a little guide to feed the targets
straight) I gave up on it. I'll sell it cheap if you're interested.
I suspect it may be worth more to you for the upgrade, then for resale...
As for specific complaints... dead images, loss of detail in
highlights and shadows. I have some professionally made profiles to
compare it against, so I'm pretty sure of my displeasure.
And if you had read the "Is PrintFIX Right For Me?" page on the ColorVision website, I believe thats what it would have recommended for users of your level of expectations: remote custom profiling, not PrintFIX.
As a
suggestion, I think CV should have offerred an upgrade immediately to
its poor, suffering customers.
That would hardly reduce your angst; though then you could worry about your upgrade not arriving instead. It makes no sense to offer the program before they are in a position to fulfill it.
Or at least say what the discount
will be so that we're not in limbo and can purchase something without
waiting so long.
Sorry that the program details for the PrintFIX to PrintFIX PRO upgrade have not been announced. I did recommend that they announce them as soon as possible, even if they were not in a position to start the program immediately. But you've waited this long, I suspect you'll make it another couple of weeks. Besides, weren't you the guy who was going to sell your copy of PrintFIX instead?
