I currently have spyder2Pro which I
purchased about 2 months ago. I see now that there is an "update" for
spyder2Pro which allows for ambient light. I assumed that that would
be downloadable. Correct?

Am I correct?Jan BarkanHowever: there is one qualification about this.Software updates that you download from the ColorVision web site are -updates-for your specifically purchased levels-of-functionality in whatever you'reusing. You can't download a free update from the ColorVision web site thatwill let you build display profiles using the full set of calibrationparameters (such as native gamma, or adjustable white point) if the softwarethat you're updating only allows calibration at single white point.Updates are what they say they are: "updates". They don't bring you from onelevel of a product family up to a higher level. They bring your locallyinstalled copy of (whatever your Colorvision software is) up to the same levelas a newer version (of the same software) that will be shipping with newlypurchased products in the same configuration.--David Miller
