Would profiling it with PrintFIX PRO be better than nothing or closer to a waste of time (and t-shirts) ?
Interestingly, its sometimes possible to use printer profiles to proof results, even when you aren't using profiles in the printing process. For instance: in tinted black and white work, where the seperations are actually created with Channel Curves, its still possible to print the PrintFIX PRO target through the same process (channel curves and all), and to then build a profile that can be used to emulate color tints in the prints on screen. The same could be true here, where other methods of seperating channels may be used, but you could get a prediction of the results by proofing through an ICC profile, even though thats not part of the printing process. Certainly worth trying; if the files in question are RGB image files.
