PFP 1.1 still crashes with HP DesignJet 130

PFP 1.1 still crashes with HP DesignJet 130

2006-06-09 by fri_zzo

Hi everybody

I found a thread about DJ130 related problems. I also experience
serious trouble and could not find a solution in the previous thread.
Maybe my additional information helps to find the cause:

Environment:
W2000 5.0-2195 SP4 eng
Designjet-130nr Driver V6.06 eng
Officejet7410 Driver 2.323.0.0
printers connected via LAN

PFP V1.0:

As soon as a DJ130 page setup was selected I could exit PFP properly
but not start again because of

Application popup: PrintFIX PRO.exe - Application Error : The
instruction at "0x62134730" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The
memory could not be "read".

right after the splash screen. This did NOT happen when the OJ7410
was selected.

Deinstalled V1.0, installed PFP V1.1

Made matters worse. PFP crash occurs now with both printer page
setups. Also I can not exit PFP anymore properly. The crash occours
right after the final "OK" in the page setup dialog.

Reinstalled DJ130 driver - still same behaviour.

Any ideas / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fritz

Yes, I'm aware that it will still crash with a Deskjet. It's something
that we're working on.

There are two ways to work around this at the moment. One of them
is a "verbal" description of how you can use PFP 1.1 to sidestep this
problem; the other is a new version of software that I'm working on,
which doesn't have a "fix", yet, but which I've massaged so that it will
behave much better until there's a "real" fix for the situation.

Contact me off-list, and I'll send you a newer application to test.
