The Spyder2Pro suite has, I believe, the spyder for calibrating your
monitor(an absolute minimum requirement IMHO), and the PrintFixPro for
making color profiles. Since you are working with 3rd party inks, this
is a must if you want consistant results. Calibrating your monitor is
a must, so at the very least you'd want the spyder. But since you want
to make color prints, I'd get the PFP, so why not go for the suite. I
have a different monitor calibration system, but it did scanner based
profiles. After reading about the PrintFixPro, I went out and got it.
Everyone I talked to,and every thing I've read about the PFP made this
a no brainer decision. Easy to set up, and easy to use. Only problem I
have is waiting for my new paper order to get here and some free time
to work with! Just my three cents worth!
