PFP 1.1.1 won't read.....

PFP 1.1.1 won't read.....

2006-07-04 by Bill Hansen

Win XP Pro with all service packs and updates. PFP Pro v 1.1.1.

A couple of days ago I printed out targets for two papers, let them dry
overnight, and made a printer profile this morning. All this went very well
- only needed to increase Brightness by 2, to get an essentially perfect
profile.

But when I tried to measure the target printout on the second paper, I
found that (1) the "Save measurements to" choice is grayed out. (2) "select
an existing measurement file" is checked, and the file I made when creating
my first profile appears as the only choice, and (3) I cannot access the
"calibrate" function in the Tools dropdown - it's grayed out too.

I've tried closing all programs, and I've tried rebooting. Neither of these
seems to help.

Obviously I must be missing something very simple. I can't find the answer
in the Help files. What's the magic answer???

The magic answer is: your spectro is not being seen by PFP, for some
reason. If the spectro isn't "connected", the UI won't let you select
a measurement file to save, because you won't be able to save any
measurements.

(If you go into PFP's prefs, I think you'll find that you won't be
able to see the spectro and select it).

So the real question is: why is this happening?

The PFP 1.1.1 Windows installer puts in a new driver for the spectro
and also removes the older one. We should be able to figure out why
the new driver isn't working (probably has something to do with the Windows
registry). Email me off-list tomorrow and we should be able to figure this
one out for you.
