Profiling digital mini lab

Profiling digital mini lab

2007-02-24 by Eesh Dewan

Hi,
I came across dry creek photo's profiles and am too trying to profile a mini lab. Any special process to follow when we profile a mini lab? I saw that on drycreek you usually have only 2 profiles for a lab, one for glossy and one for matt stock. But, should you not profile the lab everytime you have a change in batch of paper or am i missing something?
I am trying to profile noritsu 2901 and noritsu lps 350 (24" digital mini lab)
Regards
Eesh

You don't mention what product you are profiling a minilab with. If its PrintFIX PRO, then you can print any of the Tiff targets, and build a profile for the lab, to be applied by the lab software (if it has a slot for an output profile) or to be converted to before sending files to the lab (usually with a Photoshop automation batch process folder). The new Augmented Grays target offer improved grayscale printing with color labs. How often you reprofile depends on how consistant your chemistry and other factors are. One profile for each media type is ideal, most labs don't run more than one or two types anyways...
