Favorite Paper?

Favorite Paper?

2006-03-08 by Tom

Ok ... semi on and semi off topic question here.

Whats your favorite art paper on the market today? I'm pretty partial
to the Epson Velvet and also the Radiant White but am interested to
know if anyone has some other suggestions. I am looking for a paper
with good saturation and rich dark blacks.

It seems the photographs which look the best from a distance are the
ones which can express a greater contrast ratio (glossy papers) but
the close up look and texture of the art papers.

Maybe when a true RIP is available for the R1800 I can play with the
ink limits and try to lay down more ink than the standard settings.

Thanks in advance

Tom ... (who wishes he could go to Tuscany darn it.)

Aren't we all. But not at the expense of good texture, lack of flaking, etc...

I suppose, but art papers have a value even behind glass, even at a distance...

Rich black blends bring their own set of issues with them. Better paper is a simpler solution than heaping ink onto a less optimal paper.

As for my personal favorite... its not released yet, so I can't comment on it yet, so I can't answer your question... yet. Same is true for my favorite canvas, and my favorite gloss... stay tuned!
