Unable to build profile, error message

Unable to build profile, error message

2007-08-06 by John

I just received my PrintFIX Pro with v2.1 b1.68 software therefore
very excited to start learning to profile.

I printed the target file and let it dried. After about two hours
drying, started profiling and everything was smooth until I want to
build profile, an error appeared:

Unexpected error NilObject Exception has occurred at code location
[001:000].rintFIX Pro will now quit. Please report this error, and
relaunch PrintFIX Pro.

Relaunched the program, re-measure the existing profile and upon
building, the same message appeared. I repeated this a couple of time
but no-go.

Please let me know where was my mistake?

TIA

No mistake that I can think of. That's a "crash" (actually, an
unexpected program quit, with some location information about where it
happened).

Which are you running: OSX, XP, or Vista?

Hello David

Great support and quick response.... really appreciated.

I am using Windows XP SP2, U.S. English version, printer to profile
is Epson R1800 using 3rd party inkset with Epson EEM paper.

No problem...:-)

Can you email me a copy of your measurement file? The first thing to do
is make sure there isn't something missing or incorrect in it. You're not
getting this error until you actually click on the Next button (from the
Build Profile screen) to starting building the profile, correct?

Use the File:Open Data command to open your measurement files folder, then
attach that to an email and send it to me at davem@...

Best regards,

That's correct.... no error message, every steps were smooth till
clicking on the Next button (from the Build Profile screen) to
starting building the profile.

As I am eager to complete my first profile with the PrintFIX Pro,
will email you the xml file immediately.

I will stay for an hour and hopefully you can help solve this else
let me know when's done.

Thanks

You will need to include a lot more info than that to get assistance. What
application, what device, what OS, what workflow, etc?

Using Epson R1800 with 3rd party inks on Ilford Premium Photo Pearl
paper.

Windows XP U.S. English version and printed within Photoshop CS2's
Print Preview, let Photoshop determine color, selected the newly
created PFP profile and Saturation Intent; in Driver side,
select 'No color adjustment'

TIA

That covers most of the variables. Should automatically produce a neutral profile. The R1800 is very metameric, so neutrals will be green under on some lighting, and rusty undere some others. So try a neutral light, like sunlight, and see if thats the issue. If so, there's nothing you can do but compensate for your light source. How much of a cast are you getting? Something minor, and easily adjustable, or something major?

The cast is moderate-high and seem to be the same under different
lighting.

I try to adjust BUT I'm not good in color therefore didn't know which
lever to move. It'll be great if someone can put a small guide for
adjustment e.g. if you have orange in this area try this or green
cast in skin tones try move this...... etc.
