Calibrating laser printer

Calibrating laser printer

2007-07-18 by florent_thouret

Hi !

I've just bought a Canon LBP 5000, and discovered that PFP 2.0 is able
to calibrate this kind of printer !

So, I did like I usually do, with success, for my R1800. But the print
seems to have a problem... see the line accross each patch.

Here is a scan :

I know this issue is not from PFP 2.0 but maybe you could help me...

thanks !
Florent

Many color lasers can be profilied with RGB profiles these days...

Actually it might possibly be some odd artifact from the PFP target, thats the diagonal where the patches change for various modes. Open the TIFF file of the same target in Photoshop, being careful not to covert it or assign a profile, and print from there. That may eliminate your strange artifact...

Hi,

I did it in QImage, the software I use to print.
It worked like you said !

Thanks a lot for your help, wich was, as usual, the best I can found !

Florent

PS : I just have to find now, in the printer driver, how to disable
the color management :)

Hi,

Me again... Do you know a way to do it (see below) ? Or how to be sure
that the printer (canon LBP 5000) won't modify colors by itself ?

I can't find a way to disable it inside the driver :(

This is typically an inkjet setting, most color lasers don't have such an option, and are profiled at their default settings.

Of course if you use a Postscript laser printer, you can use the
profiles function under photoshop or InDesign.
