Richard Wolfson
2007-12-21 by CDTobie@aol.com
Photographer and fine art printer Richard Wolfson died of brain cancer Thursday, December 20, 2007. Richard was known for his black and white landscape photography, as well as his environmental portraiture. He was also involved in the technical side of photography, developing black and white inkjet inksets for MediaStreet and consulting for other companies in the industry. While much of Richard's work was large format film, he made the move to digital capture in the last few years, with the acquisition of a Canon 1DS Mark 2 full frame digital SLR, which he used with his long-time collection of Canon prime lenses.
Richard continued to shoot long after his initial diagnosis, and produced a limited edition art book of black and white environmental portraits of other cancer patients and their doctors during his treatment. Those of us who knew Richard personally will miss his compassion and wit, but most of all his penetrating perception into photography and printing.
