Framing glass adjustments?

Framing glass adjustments?

2007-12-22 by Will Clark

Nearly always, B&W framed prints from me are behind "window glass" in
anodized-black Nielson frames, surrounded with all-rag window and
backing mats from LI. Can I use Colorvision tehcnology to compensate
for the change I see when the sheet of glass goes over a "suitable"
print? I have the Spyder Elite 3 and PFP Pro Spectro.

Almost there in Nebraska,

Will Clark

Measurements with the spectro will not perceive what your eye does when adding glass. But you can make gamma and shadow detail adjustments using the sliders to get the contrast and detail you desire behind glass; you'll just have to experiment visually. Once you get an acceptable set of tweaks for, say, matte art paper, you can save that set with an appropriate name, and apply it to similar paper profiles in the future.
