try this:
http://www.colorvision.com/index_us.php
then support ...
etc.
Then register if not already done.
After that, you'll be
redirected to a new page where you do select "downloads" .

That is exactly the route I took, but when I click on Support, it
redirects me to the .ch site, and I can't make it not do so. The only
one on that site is the beta version.

This sounds strange....
If you type www. colorvision......./us.php,
"us" stays for United States: you should see this site instead of
Global site (www.colorvision.com only).

On the menu tools (Internet
Explorer): internet options---> temporary files: delete temp. files,
delete cookies, delete browsing history.
Now try again, but here: http:
//www.colorvision.com/index_us.php
and not here www.colorvision.com .
Maybe a cookie is redirecting you to *.ch site

Thanks Giorgio, but after having tried your suggestion I still have no luck. I can get the us site, but once I try to get into the support section it goes directly to the ch site. Very annoying.

I tried clearing all my cookies, as well as on a new machine that I
had never connected to either site on, and I still got to the .ch
site when I tried to go to the support site.

Can you share the url to the login page for the US support site?

And I did start at http://www.colorvision.com/index_us.php.

Thomas

If I'm right, you can now download from *.ch: filesize is 149,63MB
(same size from *.us)

What David said was that now you can get same
(right) file from two differents URLs . ONLY the NAME of the version is
different, not the contents.
Isn'it, David?

I downloaded that one, and in the zip file is the beta setup file -
its called Spyder3Print 3.0b3 Setup.exe. When you install it it
clearly says it is a beta product.

testing Printfix pro

2008-01-04 by Giorgio

I thought I liked that calibration system....

Now, I am testing it but I'm not satisfied: either soft proof and prints
are bad in respect of files printed with canned profile.

This is my actual setup:

Printer Pixma IP 4000
Original Canon inks
Canon Paper Pro
printfix pro (updated to 2.0)
monitor Eizo S1931 profiled with Spyder 2
Editing sw Photoshop CS2

printing profiles:
- Canon canned for Canon pro paper
- Printfix Pro 729 patches (all default settings)

both Rendering colorimetric (softproof is within the gamut)

Testing the profiles with GamutVision (comparision with input Adobe RGB
1998) I see that canned profile is better than Printfix one, there are
remarkable differencies in high and low light, but some more also: look
at the values of lightness (ideal and mesured) and the differencies.

Input AdobeRBG 1998 output Canon canned profile:
http://aycu40.webshots.com/image/40039/2004033155519683753_rs.jpg

Input AdobeRBG 1998 output Printfix pro profile
http://aycu38.webshots.com/image/38797/2004021994459015991_rs.jpg

I was assuming that "fine tuning" with settings should have been REALLY
fine tune. This is not....
I think that there are too many alteration.

Many people says that Printfix is a great system: maybe I missed anything?
what's your opinion? any syggestion?

Tks
Giorgio

p.s: I also have tested Ilford (galerie classic gloss) and HP photo
paper plus glossy. But the result was even worst.

GamutVision is famous for asking the wrong questions, and emphasizing the wrong results. Yes, canned profiles are often smoother in vector colors outside the photo gamut. What matters to me most is how photographic images print. I'd print the test images in Spyder3Print as comparisons... Another factor is the 4000 being rather a difficult printer, at least compared to the PRO9500. And your use of colorimetric intent, when we consistantly recommend saturation may be another factor.

Actually, Spyder3Print 3.0.1 for Mac OS X Leopard should be posting today. I'll request that they get the right version of 3.0 for Windows up while they are at it.
