That was the typical process with Spyder2, and other calibrators of that era. We found that the when the "recalibrate" warning came up, people put it off, since it required finding the Spyder in the drawer or closet, getting it out, untangling the cable, crawling around in the dust to plug it in, and then it was a ten minute process to recalibrate. With Spyder3, its already there, hooked up, and available, and recalibration is only about three or four minutes. So its far more likely to get done. And yes, its nice to get the ambient light level info that the tray/menu-bar icon offers, especially for educational purposes, but thats only part of the value.
