Waking up from "Sleep Mode"

Waking up from "Sleep Mode"

2008-11-21 by Steve Moore

I have heard that when "waking up" from "sleep mode" (or stand-by?),
the mode where the computer's "power-on" light is blinking, that the
Colorvision profile is lost and the computer returns to its generic
profile.

Is this true? How can I check to see?

Thanks, Steve Moore

Too little information. This will depend on what OS, what Spyder
version, etc.

Now that I'm at a "real computer" I'll try to give a bit more of an answer (though my hands are still numb from doing my 3 Kilometers at -10c, so pardon my spelling).

First, no problems at all on the Mac from waking from sleep. On Windows, this will vary with your version of Windows, your version of our software, the phase of the moon, etc... Its are more likely that any issues will have to do with correct application of the video corrections, instead of the OS reverting to the wrong profile, but I suppose even that is possible. Please understand that we use an OS call to set your display profile, and an OS call to flash the video corrections from that profile to the videocard, so such issues tend to be, well, OS issues.

To check and see if its all working correctly for you under Windows, use our Profile Chooser utility. If selecting the same profile you were already using causes a visible change in the on screen color or density (not just a flash, but a change from one state, to another), then you have an issue. If not, you're golden.
