Its not practical to guarantee support of any future OS on any product
which is no longer in development... we do what we can to keep things
viable, but eventually, its necessary to just suggest people move up
to a newer product, which has been developed and tested specifically
with the newer OSes. Its been about three and a half years since we
stopped developing Spyder2 products; a lifetime in digital terms.
As for changes to the software (in addition to a whole list of
significant improvements to the hardware between S2 and S3), the
Utility has been changed to a full time Utility, not a start-up-only
Utility, so that we can monitor your profile and the very important
video card corrections that also need to be in place for color
management to function. Vista was the inspiration of that change,
since it had several issues that could cause loss of the video LUT
data. Win7 acts a lot like Vista, so I would have to recommend S3 for
Win7, even if it was for that one reason alone. But there are a lot of
other improvements, making the software faster, easier to use, and
better at helping you choose and calibrate to appropriate standards.
