Going from v3.1.4 to v4.0.2 (Spyder3Elite)

Going from v3.1.4 to v4.0.2 (Spyder3Elite)

2010-08-08 by Rebel PPC

I am running Spyder3Elite version 3.1.4 and have just downloaded version 4.0.2 of the software from the Datacolor web site. My question is if I need to uninstall version 3.1.4 before installing version 4.0.2 or does it just update/upgrade the existing version to the latest? If I do not have to uninstall the existing version for the update/upgrade, do I have to at least stop the current version from running during the update/upgrade? Are there any other little things that I need to know or watch out for during the update/upgrade?

Rousing mention your platform. For Windows, it's always good to uninstall first, for the Mac it doesn't really matter.

Thank you for the reply and I apologize for forgetting to ad my platform info. I run Windows XP. You said to uninstall first for windows but I forgot one other thing to ask in my original inquiry. Do I also have to unplug the spyder sensor and not reattach until told to do so by the update/upgrade? If I remember (which fails a lot these days), when first installing this package, I had to wait until the software was installed before attaching the sensor.
I am sure there was a step by step guide to doing an update/upgrade on the DataColor web site but I could not find it. Thus the reason for bothering everyone on here with something that I am probably making a lot to do about of nothing.

That would be best; at least until the upgrade is installed.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
