Feature Request

Feature Request

I'd like a reading of ambient light levels from the status bar icon that read in candelas as in the S3E application rather than high, medium, low, etc. It would help in resetting the room light.

Candelas/meter square are a contact unit (luminance); an ambient sensor would have to read illuminance units instead, which would be less useful. The simple front sensor in the Spyder3 is not designed to provide detailed luminance readings. In fact, while I can certainly appreciate what you are asking for, and how it could be useful, you are the first user who I have heard request this. I'll put it on the list...

You were right of course. S3E readings were in cd/m^2.
I really need to buy some blackout shades for this west facing room. The ones provided by the landlord are the normal translucent white things.
I'm now proceding with forcing the desktop profiling at 6500/2.2/160cd/m^2.
This level selected as a compromise average.

Yes, I find that most blinds in stores are intentionally translucent, without an option for a version with metal foil in them to render them both heat reflective, and blackout. Too bad that's not more common, as it is what I want in my bedroom, as well as my studio. Aluminum spray paint on the back does the trick, but is not as attractive from outdoors as fabric over a metal foil or Mylar layer. I have been spoiled by the wonderful metal exterior roll-down blinds so common in Europe, which allow for sleeping late, as well as total control of room luminance. I can even envision a "smart building" function where the motor controlled roller blinds in a European office would be connected to a Spyder, to adjust them automatically to maintain consistent brightness in an office.

Yes, the Help does not emphasize this, but once you have determined the proper settings for your situation, you can stop using the ambient light wizard and the Studio Match wizard, as their functions have been served, and they are no longer needed.
