Keep Datacolor software installed?

Keep Datacolor software installed?

2016-05-13 by JN2@...

I just calibrated the display on my ThinkPad T420s with a new Spyder4Express.

There was a noticeable color change.

I then uninstalled the Datacolor software, and color appears to have reverted,

even though I've made sure the Spyder4Express profile is selected in Windows.

Must I keep the Datacolor software installed?

Under Windows, the video corrections need to be loaded at startup by the Spyder Utility. On the Mac the OS takes care of it. Without the VLUTs, the color is not corrected, even with the profile applied. There was some talk about recent versions of Windows doing this at the OS level, but I've not seen that function to date.

As far as I know, you should keep the software. On my computers, that's what loads the right colour profile when my computer starts up.

Thanks to both of you, but with additional research, I now know (a) what was going on and (b) how to fix it:
That Datacolor doesn't seem to have documented this issue is very disappointing.

Hope that helps someone else,
John
