Bill - that would be great! I was told by Yamaha service that there was no service manual for this, that i was on my own. I was also told that the disklavier technicians at Faust harrison Pianos in NYC were not trained to install floppy drives, and did not know how to do it.

Can you suggest any other viable options (besides just bypassing it with MIDI) to buying and installing a new floppy drive?

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
