Disklavier

I just spoke to Martin, and he confirmed that the button I was talking about is related to the CD drive that I also replaced. The floppy drive just fits right in without any issues. And yes, you probably could find a cheaper one on eBay

I replaced my floppy drive on my Mark lV recently. It's a pretty straightforward kind of job. You should talk to Martain at Yamaha parts about the button that may be needed to use the current floppy drives. Just be careful and all should go well

i find it difficult to understand why anyone would want to bother with floppies. you can make and play an endless variety of playlists from the computer, can do it wirelessly etc etc. if i had music on floppies, the first thing i would do is copy it to a computer and or backup drive.

Bill - that would be great! I was told by Yamaha service that there was no service manual for this, that i was on my own. I was also told that the disklavier technicians at Faust harrison Pianos in NYC were not trained to install floppy drives, and did not know how to do it.

Can you suggest any other viable options (besides just bypassing it with MIDI) to buying and installing a new floppy drive?
