Disklavier

I used 4 inch foam and it's not touching the soundboard. I have a C3X so I am not sure if other pianos would have the same measurements underneath

But I can also see the advantage of using foam that can be easily used and removed so that you can create an ambience setting of your own acoustic piano providing the background music in certain settings.   I think there’s room for both.
