Dear Experts, I have an E3 Upright on which I have made several recordings (of hand playing) for friends.
One friend has a Mark 3 upright, the other a Mark 2 Grand.
Both have had difficulty in playing the recordings in that the sustain does not move fully on their pianos making the playing sound 'clipped'. (I did fully depress the sustain pedal when making the recordings and the playback is fine on my E3).
I have tried adjusting the pedal position on my E3 by tightening the trap work wing nut and then re-adjusting damper lift, by turning the vertical rod which is damper side of the disklavier control unit in the LH side of the piano. This doesn't seem to make any difference.
I have made some test recordings on my E3 and found that it can exactly record half pedalling/damping etc.
I am not sure if earlier versions are as sophisticated as the E3 with regard to the sustain.
My questions are:
1 Is there a problem in playing E3 recordings on earlier models of disklavier?
2 Is there a way of making sure that my sustain pedal is calibrated correctly - the menu on the control box doesn't seem to have a facility for this.
