Sorry. I just get erked at how Yamaha insults it's customers by pricing it's disks at $30 a pop. The disks and packaging should cost less than .35 cents a piece to produce. Personnaly, I feel the artist should get about $2 from each disk sold. That comes to $2.35 each. Since Yamaha needs to make a profit, they can mark the disks up 400% and sell them at $10 a piece. The reseller can add $5.00, and wallah..... you have $15 per disk. Price fixing at $30 dollars each is insulting to the customer. --- In disklavier@y..., "Todd Muncy" <disklavier@m...> wrote: > Saierk, > Your message below certainly got my attention and frankly concerns me greatly. > > I looked you up in the members log and see that you have been in this group for less than 24 hours. If you are expressing disappointment that you can't find copyrighted performances here, I'm glad to hear it. We are scrupulous in keeping such material off our site. > > If you don't like this policy, I suggest you discuss it... ...in some other group or try this link: disklavier-unsubscribe@y... I'm not trying to be self-righteous or holier-than-thou, but I've spent two years defending this group against the slings and arrows of one or two misinformed jerks who claimed our main purpose was to circumvent copyrights and that we are a bunch of pirates. As you've discovered, nothing could be further from the truth! > > We are a private, members-only group, that shares private performances internally, for our own enjoyment only and do not use them for commercial purpose. Some of the compositions still carry copyright protection for their songwriters, but private non- commercial performances are exempt from royalties under copyright law. The wonderful thing about this group, is that you can find a lot of this material here which is forced off of public websites by the Harry Fox Agency (songwriters version of ASCAP/BMI). If you're tired of classical and ragtime, this is the club to belong to. > > If you would prefer a Napster, piracy focused, alternative, I don't have any recommendations. If you find one or start one yourself, please don't tell me about it or post info about on this board, or you will find yourself a former member of this particular group. Hope this more than answers your question. > > > Todd Muncy > disklavier-owner@Y... > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: saierk > To: disklavier@y... > Sent: Saturday, December 15, 2001 12:54 AM > Subject: [disklavier] Napster of Disklavier ? > > > The internet has brought about a huge movement in electonic "file > sharing".
