I suggest you don't buy them. I don't. Not many of our 550+ members do. They're not a great value, agreed, and I think the selection and quality sucks. Personally I believe the reason the available material is limited and overpriced is because technically it is extremely difficult to protect copyrights in midi format. Therefore, great talents don't and won't release recordings in midi format. If they do release them, they sell a tiny number of legal copies and can't possibly find it financially rewarding at any level of royalty. The wages of piracy is a lack of available material and that's what we have.
We don't pirate, yet we enjoy lots of great music, by pooling our collections of public domain performances. Aren't you glad you found such a great group of people to share with? We look forward to your many future uploads and other positive contributions to the group.
Oh, BTW, if the system seemed sluggish posting your last few messages, it's not. I temporarily configured you for message moderation, and I've been away from the PC for several hours and just now approved them for posting. Now that we all understand each other, I will remove the restriction and your messages will pass directly to the membership like everyone else's always have.

Sorry. I just get erked at how Yamaha insults it's customers by
pricing it's disks at $30 a pop.

The disks and packaging should cost less than .35 cents a piece to
produce. Personnaly, I feel the artist should get about $2 from each
disk sold. That comes to $2.35 each. Since Yamaha needs to make a
profit, they can mark the disks up 400% and sell them at $10 a
piece. The reseller can add $5.00, and wallah..... you have $15 per
disk.

Price fixing at $30 dollars each is insulting to the customer.

disappointment that you can't find copyrighted performances here, I'm
glad to hear it. ; We are scrupulous in keeping such material off our
site.

not trying to be self-righteous or holier-than-thou, but I've spent
two years defending this group against the slings and arrows of one
or two misinformed jerks who claimed our main purpose was to
circumvent copyrights and that we are a bunch of pirates. As you've
discovered, nothing could be further from the truth!

performances internally, for our own enjoyment only and do not use
them for commercial purpose. Some of the compositions still carry
copyright protection for their songwriters, but private non-
commercial performances are exempt from royalties under copyright
law. The wonderful thing about this group, is that you can find a
lot of this material here which is forced off of public websites by
the Harry Fox Agency (songwriters version of ASCAP/BMI). If you're
tired of classical and ragtime, this is the club to belong to.

have any recommendations. ; If you find one or start one yourself,
please don't tell me about it or post info about on this board, or
you will find yourself a former member of this particular group.
Hope this more than answers your question.
