Thanks for the info about the XG being just a playback unit. I guess "died" is a pretty vague. We have two problems. The disk drive doesn't work (I think it was toddler grand kids inserting something). Now the controller won't turn on (possible a fuse or maybe the power supply, which I can have a tech run down for me). Anyway, my thought was if I can find a used controller, it probably wouldn't cost much more than a new disk drive and I'd have spare parts for future use.
