For the midi player, VanBascos midi/karaoke ( http://www.vanbasco.com/ ) works great on old windows and it's free. Not sure on newer stuff. I'm happy with it. I have one very old windows computer for converting old Yamaha proprietary disks and I use this program there. I have 600-700 files on it no problem. All my other computers are Apple and I use Sweet Midi Player on those. They offer the best support I've ever come across for any software. They've very responsive and have helped me with problems that had nothing to do with their program. But, on the desktop application, it doesn't have a random play feature. The Ipad application does have random play although it's not as random as you'd think. They are working to modify that, so I'm told. I'm pretty sure they have a free trial or demo. http://www.ronimusic.com/ Well worth checking. Best of luck.
