The Silent Mode, when activated, can only be heard through headphones. The volume control knob next to the Silent mode switch, however, needs to be turned up to hear the speakers when the piano is playing a floppy disk or CD that has ensemble sounds. Underneath the piano, next to the pedal lyre, is a large, round connector with lots of pins. It goes from the pedal lyre to the underside of the piano. GENTLY see if that round connector turns. It should NOT! Only the collar that tightens the connector should turn. If the connector itself turns, you have a problem. What can happen is that the piano movers try to turn the connector. It should be put in place, without turning, and only the collar should be tightened gently by hand. The other tricky connector that is sometimes overlooked is on the UNDERSIDE of the keyframe. A piano technician would remove the control box to the DKV, remove the fallboard, remove the keyblocks on either side of the piano action and pull the piano action out about 3/4 of the way out of the piano. Then lift up the front of the action in order to see the underside of the piano keys. Although that connector may look connnected, I have found on several occasions that it is at a slight angle. Hopefully this is the problem. The simple solution already mentioned, is to remove the fallboard by lifting it straight up, and check that the gray cable on the right is connected to the side of the piano. HOwever, when this situation occurs the error reads Sensor Not Connected. I am assuming you bought this piano from your local Yamaha dealer so a technician should be available. Call them.
